Winter Gathering

The Winter Gathering is traditionally the last event in the Area 22 Calendar year. Held this year in the Mill Room at the Frogmill Inn, Shipton Oliffe we rang the changes by having a Dinner and a Dance, albeit the word “dance” being left open to interpretation particularly as the night went on.
We began with champagne in the anti-room before moving in for dinner. The ladies dressed to kill, the gentlemen in black tie … very appropriate for a formal Aston Martin “do”. Dinner was served by the excellent staff of the Frogmill whilst the DJ readied himself for the challenges and requests ahead. At 2100, the lights went down and the music started which signalled three hours of “Murder on the Dance Floor”. You know it is getting serious when the ladies take their shoes off and the “shapes” become more adventurous. By midnight it was good to sit down and rest the blisters! Folks were remarkably bright at breakfast despite the celebrations of the previous night.
All in all, I would vote the event as an excellent end to the Area 22 year. Chris and I would like to sincerely thank members who have supported all various the events through 2023. We have some great memories to look back on.
See you at the Ragged Cot on Saturday 6 January at 1230 for the Area 22 New Year Buffet. Traditional Christmas food will be behind you by then, so launch your 2024 gastronomic year with the wide variety of hot food we have organised. Come and enjoy!
