Area 00 - August 2025 News

Area 00 Assistant Rep Matthew Godfrey | Published on 8/1/2025

We hope all members have enjoyed a pleasant summer break and taken advantage of the various events available to appreciate their vehicles. As noted in last month's update, Area 00 traditionally adopts a more relaxed schedule during this period, coinciding with the customary closure of the RAC Long Bar in August. In place of our standard monthly gathering, informal meetings among members have continued, including participation in events hosted by other groups, such as Jeff’s wonderful Area 10 Eton Dorney event.

This year, our attendance at Eton Dorney was limited due to the second instalment of our island-hopping series—the Isle of Dogs to Isle of Man tour. Kindly hosted by Christian and Cheri, we experienced an expertly arranged itinerary on the Isle of Man amidst the busy schedule of summer motorbike events. Highlights included a private tour of the TT Grandstand and facilities, which would not have been possible without the support of our Area 00 connections. The tour commenced with an ascent over the O2 Arena in the Isle of Dogs, followed by travel to Chester to prepare for ferry crossings. Despite some logistical challenges with the ferries and needing some last-minute flight arrangements, seven Aston Martins made for an ideal touring group, enjoying four nights filled with automotive exploration, historical site visits, culinary experiences, and the opportunity to drive the renowned 37.73-mile 'Mountain Course.' The trip concluded with a steam train ride to Christian’s knitting factory, where members gained insight into the production of luxury garments for the fashion industry. We extend sincere appreciation to Christian and Cheri for their exceptional hospitality. Pictured above is debutant Zaggy at Point of Ayre, Isle of Man, and in the background a generic DBS fresh from Miami.

Looking ahead, our semi-planned event at the Royal Hospital Chelsea is currently on hold, but we remain committed to organising this in the future. However, we are looking forward to the Vantage Celebration at Gaydon and the Silverstone Festival before the end of August, which will hopefully be featured in the next update.

Congratulations to Darryl for bringing home the silver in the form of The Club Trophy at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court for his stunning Graber bodied Drophead DB2. See the picture below.

In other news, we have once again been selected to participate in the New Year’s Day Parade that has been rebranded the London Parade which is in its 40th year. If you are interested in getting dressed up in your party clothes early on New Year’s morning and waving to nearly half a million people from your car, please register your interest with me.

We also look forward to reconvening at the RAC on Thursday, 18th September to reminisce over the summer’s events, hope to see you there.

Cheers
Matt
