The AMOC are once more returning to the Hotel de France at La Chartre sur le Loir on the Friday before the 24Hr’s. This is of course the Hotel that John Wyer made famous when his Aston Martin team stayed there from 1953 through to 1963, and of course in 1954 the David Brown Lagonda team too.
The event will run very much along the lines of the ones we have held there in previous years, with a Champagne and buffet luncheon at the usual time of 12 noon. Lunch will be served from about 12.45 to 1.30pm when we will stop for our guest speakers, and then things will wrap up at about 3pm. You will of course be more than welcome to stay on afterwards, and soak up the famous La Chartre atmosphere, while still leaving plenty of time to return to Le Mans for the Driver’s Parade in the evening if you so wish.
David Richards, who has succeeded Wyer in becoming Britain’s most successful Sports car manager has already agreed to be there to toast his predecessor’s successes, but much more importantly to fill us all in on the progress the AMR team have made this year, and their chances of success in the 24 Hour race over the weekend.
AML have also once again agreed to come along, and bring a car for us all to admire. Simon Sproule their Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer will give us a short speech on the future of AML, and Maitland Cook (he worked for John Wyer) will talk about both Jean and Mike Salmon, who both sadly passed away last year, and were very much a feature of the La Chartre events, and of course very successfully both raced Aston Martins too.
Once again the Mayor has agreed to put an ‘Arret’ on the town square, so you can only park there in an Aston Martin or Lagonda....... so please arrive in yours if you can. However there is plenty of nearby free parking in the town if you can’t.
If would like to attend with a car that is significant in AM or Lagonda Le Mans History please let me know, as I’d be absolutely delighted to hear from you. I can be e-mailed at firstname.lastname@example.org or contacted on 07860 866432.
If you would simply like to reserve and pay for your tickets, please either e-mail Christine on email@example.com (+44 (0)1865 891838) or Ben firstname.lastname@example.org (+44 (0)1865 893935) at the Club. Tickets are now priced at £59 for members and their guests. In previous years we have always sold out, so do please reserve your tickets ASAP to avoid any disappointment.
