Red Arrows, AMOC and AMHT – displaying the very best of British
at RAF Benson Families Day
Displays by AMOC, the Aston Martin Heritage Trust and the Red Arrows showcased the very best of British at RAF Benson’s Families Day on Friday 11 August.
By special invitation from RAF Benson, located just a few miles from the AMOC head office in Oxfordshire, over 20 Club members had the opportunity to display their cars at the private military event, including Colin Townsend-Green who brought his DB9 and Tony and Glynis McGurk who came in their attention-grabbing colbalt-blue Vantage.
Colin said: “Being a member of the Club brings many benefits, but I particularly enjoy having the chance to come to events like this that you wouldn’t be able to attend if you weren’t a Member. It’s been a fantastic experience and has also been a great opportunity to meet up with fellow Members, which has been wonderful.”
The Aston Martin Heritage Trust displayed its rare 1934 Aston Martin Ulster K4/508/U. Transferred into the care and ownership of the Trust in 1998, the car is one of only four 2/4 seat cars among the 21 production Ulsters made, and attracted much attention from Club Members and RAF personnel and their families.
Members enjoyed other exhilarating aerial displays by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Chinook helicopters and RAF Falcons parachute team.
Also attracting a lot of attention was ‘Red 10’, the stunning Red Arrows Vanquish S model donated by Aston Martin Cambridge to the RAF Benevolent Fund to raise over £1m for the charity through a raffle. The unique car is part of a project which has seen Aston Martin Cambridge commission 10 special limited edition cars with bespoke detailing in tribute to the world-famous Red Arrows aerobatic team.
Raffle tickets cost £20 each and all entries into the raffle will have a chance to win ‘Red 10’. The car marries the exceptional craftsmanship and unforgettable driving experience of an Aston Martin with the iconic Red Arrows brand. All funds from the raffle will go directly to the RAF Benevolent Fund. The raffle closes on 1 December 2017 and the draw date is on 8 December 2017. To enter go to: https://www.rafbf.org/red10.
