DBS (1967-1972)
Newport Pagnell i6 Cars (1958-1973)
DBST.jpgThe William Towns designed DBS was both intended to replace the DB6 and carry a new and very powerful V8 engine. Indeed, it achieved both of these targets but it must have taken somewhat longer that anticipated.

Whilst the DBS was a modern and comfortable GT with ample seating for four people, the 'coke bottle' styled body covered a widened DB6 platform chassis and the familiar Tadek Marek straight six cylinder engine also from the DB6. The car was heavier than the DB6 and thus in performance terms, it lagged a little behind it's older brother - but the promised V8 engine was more than two years away.

The DBS couldn't really be seen as really a stopgap before the 1969 unveiling of the DBS V8 since demand for the six cylinder car, and therefore production, continued until half way through 1972 with 787 examples produced.
