The problem with Bertelli's early cars were that they did cost rather too much to produce and therefore appeared expensive for cars of just 1.5 litre capacity. So wherever possible certain unseen components, such as the gearbox and back axle, were bought in rather than made in house.
The New International was introduced in 1932 and as well as being an improvement on the previous model was also significantly less expensive. As well as saloons and tourers, the company also made the overtly sporting Le Mans; with its low line chassis and lower radiator line, it was inspired by the company's success in the 24 Hour French classic.
