Tyre Regulations 2008

Classic grid competitors will be aware that there has been considerable discussion regarding the use of a control tyre (Toyo) and that the Competitions Committee have been working hard to arrive at the best and most inclusive rules for all competitors.

Many thanks to all the competitors and preparers who responded to my letter sent in December. The responses were varied and detailed with no clear preference of tyre choice for the 2008 Championship.

The following is the change in tyre regulations for the Classic grid for 2008 and please be assured that the Committee will be providing the opportunity for competitors to discuss all the regulations well in advance of 2009.

5.13 Tyres

Classes B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2, E1, E2 any fully moulded treaded "E" marked tyre may be used. Hoosier radial shadow pattern tyres are not permitted.  In Classes B3, C3, and D3 any fully moulded treaded tyre may be used.  Hoosier radial shadow pattern tyres allowed with a minimum of four circumferential grooves spaced evenly across the full width of the tyre.  These grooves must be visible at the end of competition.  No other shadow pattern tyre manufacturer is permitted.

The scoring system for the 2008 Aston Martin Championship is still to be decided however it is likely that cars which run on Hoosier tyres will have a points adjustment.

There are no other planned changes to the Technical Regulations Governing Aston Martins in Competition and an updated version of this document will be distributed shortly.

We look forward to welcoming you at AMOC race meetings throughout the season and we wish you a safe and successful New Year.
