Five out of five for the Scraggs

Chris and Ant Scragg made it five wins from five in the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain, at the series' penultimate round at Oulton Park on Saturday 21 August.

In what was the closest race to date, the Scraggs took the win from the Applebys by less than four seconds after 90 minutes of racing.  GT4 Challenge debutants, Aston Martin design director, Marek Reichman, and Chris Porritt, engineering manager, took third.

The father and son partnership of Chris and Ant Scragg took pole from James and David Appleby by just eight hundredths of a second on the 2.7 mile circuit, with Chris Porritt putting the Aston Martin factory-entered car in third, a further 0.8 seconds behind.

In the race, Ant Scragg took the first stint and led away from pole with James Appleby right behind him.  However, it wasn't long before James Appleby passed Ant Scragg and the two remained in close contention until Ant Scragg span shortly before his pit stop, losing 15 seconds.

After the pit stops, David Appleby continued to lead but was steadily being reined in by Chris Scragg.  Four laps from the end, Chris Scragg passed Appleby senior into Old Hall corner and maintained a narrow lead to the chequered flag.

The GT4 Challenge now heads for Donington on 9 October, for the final round of the inaugural  series.
