Bloxham DB7s (1994-2003)
|
It is something of an Aston Martin tradition to offer a car with a useful increase in performance over the standard model. Such cars receive the exclusive 'Vantage' badge and name and represent the pinnacle of the marque. It took until early 1999 for AM to display the DB7 Vantage to an eager public at the 1999 Geneva Salon. In a slight break from tradition the Vantage version of the DB7 had a whole new 6.0 litre 420 bhp V12 engine and not just a tuned version of the supercharged six.
Restyled by the original designer, Ian Callum, the exquisite poise of the DB7 is transformed with beefed up flanks, new sills, larger nose air intake with revised grill and lights plus a new rear bumper. Under the surface the chassis was 'beefed up' and featured completely new front and rear suspension. The Vantage was a significant leap forward for the DB7 and yet the showroom price at introduction was a competitive £92,500. Needless to say, potential buyers saw something of a supercar 'bargain' and the production at the Bloxham factory increased by around 40% to meet demand.
