Bloxham DB7s (1994-2003)

It is almost traditional that each Aston Martin coupe has an equivalent open variant. And by early 1996, the Volante was unveiled to an excited US audience. Designed by Ian Callum at the same time as the coupe the Volante looks elegant with hood either up or down, much like the earlier Aston Martin drophead cars. The extra weight and aerodynamic drag have thankfully had only had a minor effect on performance, as the Volante can still achieve a top speed of 155 mph and 60 mph from rest in about 6 seconds. Demand for the DB7 Volante was strong, especially in the US, thus total production of the open car ran at about the same as its closed sister. This is unusual for Aston Martin as previous open cars were built in much smaller numbers.
