AMOC Spring Concourse Results
The Spring Concours is to form a focus for the International Weekend on Sunday 23 May at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, the most magnificent country house in England and birthplace of Winston Churchill.
As we are celebrating the Club’s foundation in 1935, we want to see if we can bring together an assembly of pre-war cars in prime position overlooking the lake as a new initiative supported by the Heritage Trust with their particular interest in the early cars. We hope to see racing cars from the Horsfall the previous day : original Bamford and Martin models through to the last of the 2 litre Sutherland ones, some of which were built just after the war. The Heritage Trust, Roger Carey, will be awarding a special Trophy at the start of a new and emerging Trust role in support of the pre-war scene.
The Bristol Owners Club are our guests for the Visitor Class, well known for producing fine, hand-made performance cars and we are hoping to see ten of these entered as well as several more of their members in a part of the Aston car park. The Aston Martin Factory and the Works Service and Parts Operation will now be well represented : we expect to have again the One-77, the new UB2010 DB9 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Ulrich Bez, the new AM Rapide, Db9 Volante, V12 Vantage Coupe and the Vantage Roadster. Another highlight just arranged by Mark Donoghue will be an exciting fly-past of the Spitfire belonging to and flwn by Caroline Grace whose husband restored it before being tragically killed in a motor accident.
Members and visitors, all of whose cars will be admitted at the main gate for £20 per car, showing a valid AMOC, AMHT or BOC membership card or guest pass for non-member pre-war owners. This provides access to Club displays, gardens and grounds; with a reduced extra charge for seeing the interiors of the house and its treasures at £4 per adult, £3 senior concession and £2.50 per child over 5 years. Entry to the Concours itself will be £37.50 per car with free entry at the gate provided the issued windscreen sticker is visible – details from Audrey at HQ on 01865 400400.
The timetable for the day will be as previously – entry for members and Concours entrants at 10am, judging to commence at 11am with a lunch break at 1pm and presentation of trophies and awards from around 3pm by our President, Diana Viscountess Downe. Special Guests are to be HRH Prince Michael of Kent with his wife Princess Michael and His Grace the Duke of Marlborough. Ian MacGregor will be aiming to provide his usual entertaining commentary during the day using our new radio mike to make his and your voices a little more audible!
We much look forward to welcoming as many of you as we can at this very special occasion.
